How much does it cost

The Royal Government of Bhutan sets standard tariffs or selling prices for holiday packages to Bhutan in US dollars and this must be paid in full prior to your arrival in Bhutan. The revised minimum package tour prices from 1st January 2012 as approved by the Tourism Council of Bhutan are given below.

In addition to the above seasonal rates, an extra charge called ‘FIT surcharge’ is applicable to the following type of travellers over and above the minimum daily rates:

  • Single individual – US$ 40 per night halt per person
  • Group of two – US$ 30 per night halt per person
  • Group of three or more – no surcharge

Visa Fees

Visa fees are not included in the standard tariffs. From January 2013, the visa fees have been revised into four categories: (1) single entry fee US$ 40 (2) double entry fee US$ 80 (3) triple entry fee US$ 120 and (4) multiple entry fee US$ 200.

Discounts

The following discounts are available on top of the above tariffs:

A. Children up to the age of 5 years can travel free. However, children between the ages of 6-12 years accompanied by elders/guardians are given 50% discount on daily rates.

B. Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions are also given a 25% discount.

C. A discount of 50% on daily rates is given to one person in a group of 11 to 15 persons

D. 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons or more

E. 50% discount on the royalty shall be provided after the 8th night and 100% discount on the royalty shall be provided after the 14th night

F. Persons availing discounts under Sections A & B shall be ineligible for discount under E.

The standard tariff includes all internal taxes and charges (35% royalty), accommodation & all meals in 3-star hotels (however, an option is available for 5-star luxury hotels at your own supplement cost), daily guided tours, services of a licensed local English-speaking guide, driver, comfortable transport within Bhutan, entrance fees, camping equipment and haulage for trekking tours. A tipping for guides and drivers are at your discretion.

…BUT…

Apart from the daily tour tariffs, the price of Drukair and Bhutan Airlines tickets in and out of Paro flights are charged in US dollars separately. Drukair tickets can be purchased online on www.drukair.com.bt and Bhutan Airlines on www.bhutanairlines.bt, but we are happy to arrange your air tickets in and out of Paro International Airport for your own convenience at no extra fees. Airfare discounts are available during off-season in the months of January, February, June, July, August and December.

However, you will need to arrange your own international flights to one of the following gateway cities for connecting to Bhutan from: Singapore, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Dhaka, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, Bagdogra and Bodh Gaya.

Airfare Discounts for Children & Students

Flights
 to and out of Paro International Airport also offers discounts for children and students:

  • Children under 2 years receive 90% discount
  • Children under 12 years receive 33% discount
  • Students under 25 years with a valid ID card receive 30% discount

Holiday Cancellation Charges

Your tour programmes once booked and subsequently cancelled must be informed in writing by mail, fax or e-mail to us. The cancelling of your travel arrangements will incur the applicable cancellation charges shown in the table below and will also apply our admin fee of US $75.
